1About homi

A place to feel at ease

homi takes its name from “homey,” with the hope that this will feel like a place of your own.

A little away from the bustle of the city, there is room to settle in, even on your own with a book. We hope a visit brings a small moment of happiness to an ordinary day.

Bakes for every day

Simple flavours, with the sweetness kept gentle enough to enjoy day after day.

Bakes and coffee, together

The bakes take a slight lead. Choose coffee from a medium-roast blend to light-roast single origins — each made to bring out the best in the other.

We opened in Kamigyo, Kyoto in July 2026.

2Our space

5seats and counter seating

The counter, with the showcase and coffee beans

For the counter, we chose tiles that catch the light and shimmer softly as it moves.

In a shop this small, it’s easy to chat across the counter, and we look forward to it — whether you live nearby or are passing through on a trip.

3Baked goods

Our baked goods

Our regular bakes, alongside others made with fruit of the season. What’s in the showcase changes a little from day to day.

Please choose your baked goods from the showcase. Take-out is welcome, too.

Our pick

Carrot cake and coffee

This is the pairing we recommend most.

Walnuts, Sun Muscat raisins and spices that go well with coffee, with the sweetness kept gentle — easy to enjoy even in the morning.

If you’re eating in, you can have it with cream on the side.

Past seasonal bakes

  • Plum jam pound cake on a blue-gray plate

    2026.08

    Plum jam pound cake

Soft and fluffy at room temperature, pleasantly dense when chilled.

  • A bake made with fig jam on an off-white plate

    2026.08

    Fig jam bake

Made with less sugar, so the figs’ own sweetness comes through.

  • Tea and apple cake on a blue plate, with a cup of coffee

    2026.09

    Tea and apple cake

Apple jam is the key. Enjoy it with something warm to drink.

Seasonal bakes come and go. We post what’s in the showcase on Instagram.

4Coffee

A bake and a coffee

We serve drip coffee and espresso.

For our blend, we use beans from Necktie Coffee (ネクタイコーヒー) in Shimabara, Kyoto.
For single-origin drip coffee, we use beans from townsfolk coffee in Kanazawa, Ishikawa — my hometown.

* Bean selections change every few months.

We post our current beans on Instagram. We hope you’ll find your own favorite pairing of baked goods and coffee.

Good to know

  • You’re welcome to take out or eat in.

  • Our baked goods change from day to day. If we sell out or need to close unexpectedly, we’ll let you know on Instagram.
